SHAKESPEARE IN PARADISE NEEDS YOUR HELP!!

2016 marks the 8th annual Shakespeare in Paradise festival. It so happens that this year is Shakespeare's 400th birthday, and Winston Saunders' 75th, and we've expanded our festival from the regular 10 days of public performances to a full 2 weeks.

We need more hands to work on it!! The festival's grown too big for us to handle it in the way we've been going, so we have to change the way we recruit, train and deploy volunteers.

In the past, we haven't had any shortage of people willing to assist with the seating of patrons. But this year, that's not going to be enough. We are going to need people to take charge of different performances, both behind the scenes and in the front of house, and for that we need to train and test the volunteers. This year, we can't get by with people who just turn up on the night. We need volunteers who we have trained and certified to deliver specific tasks.

So this year, we're asking people to volunteer early. We'll start working with volunteers from July 2016, and we will need you to commit to a certain amount of training time before October. We'll meet you at the theatre and show you the ropes, and by the time October comes around, we want to be able to organize teams of individuals we can trust to make things happen. If you make the cut, you'll get your schedule and your perks by the beginning of September. Our goal is to double our work team, and to give those people who volunteer with us training and experience in the mounting of plays and a festival.

Here is a list of who we needand what the time commitment is like.

Here's where you sign up!!

If you signed up with Ringplay/the Dundas earlier this year, you'll get an email from us to tell you when to report for registration and re-training, but if you don't come out in the summer don't expect to be put to work in this year's festival. If you haven't worked with us in the past but you would like to, we'll tell you where and how to show up.

Looking forward to a great 2016!
