Help support environmental education by giving the gift of a year's membership to FRIENDS. The recipient will receive monthly updates via our e-newsletters and our fall and summer hardcopy newsletters. Help FRIENDS facilitate cleanups in Abaco by sponsoring a cleanup package. Groups wishing to do a cleanup will receive data forms, pencils, gloves, and trash bags. FRIENDS will submit the data from the cleanup to the International Coastal Cleanup database to assist in global decision making about marine debris. Thanks to the generosity of Mary E. Albury, FRIENDS is fortunate to have our very own nature trail on property! We will guide student groups along the nature trail where they will learn how to identify plants and animals found in Bahamian coppice habitats, and will learn plant biology appropriate to their grade level. Bringing the outside in! Students learn about Abaco's unique environment through creative classroom activities that get them excited about going outside and exploring the natural world around them. Presentations will be given to local schools and community groups. Seeing is believing! Snorkeling coral reefs, swimming in blue holes, and tasting salt on a mangrove leaf are some of the experiences that leave students with memories filled with a new sense of adventure and a love for their environment. |
