Day 4 Events
In addition to our student education initiatives we were also busy having fun at all the events that help support our programs and generate awareness. Here is a sneak peak at all the fun had in 2017. Thank you for coming and supporting the work of FRIENDS!

If you have never attended a Friends of the Environment Science Fair, you should! We at the office always walk away with an overwhelming sense of hope and confidence that positive change is possible and it is happening! The students are not only knowledgeable about their projects but they are passionate about their solutions to our many challenges as a small island nation. This year's theme was "Exploring the Value of Marine Resources". Check out our Facebook page for more exciting photos.
Plastic Workshop ![]()
In partnership with The Bahamas Plastic Movement, the community learned about plastic pollution and ways to take action! Participants did a beach clean up and learned some easy DIY lifestyle changes that help minimize daily waste. That evening the documentary Smog of the Sea was shown at the St. James Community Centre, it was an eye opening experience for all involved! |
Reef Balls
Each year FRIENDS raises the majority of funds for the education program through the Reef Ball Fundraiser. The energy and support from both events always blows us away! Thank you for making our work possible!

Rockin' with FRIENDS Rockin' with FRIENDS is an annual fundraiser for summer environmental education programs. Local and visiting musicians, amateurs and professionals of all ages, share their talents and the event is enjoyed by many.
Hope Town Music Festival This unique festival brings together the talent of some of Nashville's best singers and songwriters along with the philanthropy of Elbow Cay's global family to support the work of Friends of the Environment, Every Child Counts, and Hope Town Volunteer Fire Rescue. |
The whole reason we work to protect Abaco's environment is so that we (and future generations) can enjoy it! The Kayak Challenge, Turtle Trot and Lion Fish Derby events support our programs while getting participants out into the environment.
