This week the Bahamas lost a true son of the soil in the person of centenarian Sir Durward Knowles. Known for his contributions to sports, business, and philanthropy. We again offer our condolences to his family. WSC & SUEZ Teambuilding Effort Dubbed a Success Team building exercises have been long used as a way to provide high-impact learning, increase team skills and communications, and improve morale and productivity within companies and non-profit organizations alike. Studies have found that participants benefit from experiencing a sense of accomplishment in working as a group to complete a challenging task and learning ways to improve communication skills. Recently, employees of the Water & Sewerage Corporation and SUEZ Water Technology & Solutions - an international water & wastewater company, had the opportunity to benefit from one such exercise. NEMS Receives Donation From Aidan Roger Carron Foundation The Public Hospitals Authority's National Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) received a donation of fifteen (15) fully equipped Trauma Bags donated by the Aidan Roger Carron Foundation. The presentation was made on Monday 19th February during a brief ceremony at the NEMS Base at 1st Terrace, Centreville. Accepting the donation on behalf of the PHA was PHA Chairman Julian Rolle who extended appreciation on behalf of th...e Authority saying, "These bags, stocked with essential life-saving and resuscitative equipment, represent some of the Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic's most effective tools in the field. 33 Youth Leaders Enrolled in STB Environmental Ambassador Program They trek through woods and meander through gardens with cameras and notepads in hand. They explore the undersea world and get up close with snakes and birds. They are participants of one of the most sought after programs in The Bahamas, Youth Environmental Ambassadors (YEA). The 33rd Annual Dog Show Is Here! Get your dogs ready to strut their stuff at the Humane Society of Grand Bahama's annual dog show Saturday, March 3rd! Don't have a dog? Come in and choose a shelter dog to show off for the day! Or just come out and enjoy the big variety of beautiful dogs, from tiny to giant, from purebred to mixed breed to our amazing Royal Bahamian Potcakes. There will be plenty to do in between events for adults and kids alike. There will be a Chinese Raffle with some great prizes, including a special raffle for a two night stay at the fabulous Hilton Palm Beach Airport Hotel! You can quench your thirst and get something tasty to eat at the grill or the bake sale. We will also have a small flea market tent with some choice items from our Second Chance Secondhand Shop. There will be fun activities for kids, and of course we welcome everyone to tour our shelter. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids over two. Entering your dog is $10 per group or category entered. You can sign your dogs up on the day (please try to sign up at least 30 minutes prior to your event), or any day this week at the shelter. |
