What To Do This Summer? Dear Readers,
What to do this Summer? "Vacation at Home" comes to our minds. Summer is here, the heat is on and the kids are out of school and bored. What do you do? Why not consider vacationing in your own country? Just like you, many of us at 242, have not been to all our 700 islands, or even the inhabited ones. Travelling at home also means you can show your kids the beauty of their own country, plus you could save money and stay with relatives (the nice ones with big homes and pools), rent a car as you know how to drive here and the best part is you speak the language too! (As we all know in Miami you better speak Splanglish). With 700 islands rocks and Cays to choose from, you can likely find exactly the kind of experience you want right here in your Bahamas; you just have to be willing to consider a staycation. Looking for a little nightlife and island charm then visit the capital, which combines the best of both worlds. Want a vacation that gets you in touch with nature? Then Grand Bahama Island is ideal. From nature trails and caves, to birdwatching, the nation's second city provides the right kind of adventure that's also educational and perfect for kids. For couples, try a romantic getaway at an out-island resort, or go swimming with the world-famous Pigs of Exuma. Now I know what you're probably thinking? Travelling to the family islands is expensive. Well, that may be true but in an effort to get Bahamians to Explore the Bahamas the Ministry of Tourism has re-launched its popular two-fly-free residential rate. Between July and October, two residents can fly or cruise for FREE from either Nassau or Freeport. You get one Free Airline/Bahamas Ferries Ticket from Nassau for PRE-BOOKED 2-night hotel stays OR Two Free Airline/Bahamas Ferries Tickets from Nassau for PRE-BOOKED 4-night or longer hotel stays PLUS your individual hotel offer. Don't believe me? Then check out the official offer here
This year instead of leaving the country, we want to remind you that you could have a #HappySummer and spend the next several weeks exploring the wonders that make The Bahamas the greatest little country in the world!

Former M.P. Pierre Dupuch comments on tax on Bahamian Gambling Industry. I don't like gambling. I think it's addictive, it harms children's wellbeing and it takes money from the poor. If gambling is allowed it should be in the form of a lottery with all money earmarked for Education and Health. That's my opinion. Ever since the FNM stated they planned to target the local numbers industry with up to 50% taxes, I have heard comments like: Read More |
