Scenes from "Hard Mouth"

"Hard Mouth: From The Tongue of The Ocean" uses both the National Collection and local private collections to consider the power of language and its impact on the Bahamian visual art landscape.

This Permanent Exhibition looks into how our national vernacular has evolved over time and even reorients and repositions previously accepted ideas or norms. In a society where the oral tradition has defined much of the nation's cultural memory, it is no surprise that the tongue is both salve and sword.
