The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas - NE9 is Here!

On Thursday, December 13th, from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. we welcome the celebration of Bahamian art with the opening of the ninth National Exhibition (NE9) "The Fruit and the Seed."  The Exhibition opening is FREE and open to the public.

The NE9 opens on December 13th @ 6 p.m.

Under the patronage of the Honourable Lanisha Rolle, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) invites you to the opening of the National Exhibition 9 (NE9) titled “The Fruit and the Seed” on Thursday, December 13th starting at 6 p.m.

“The Fruit and the Seed” celebrates Bahamian art with works by 38 artists, writers, thinkers and instigators, and is free and open to the public. Start the festivities early and join in the celebration of the season and its offerings.

The evening will be filled with festive entertainment, refreshments and hors d'oeuvres, with adequate parking available at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral. The event is FREE and open to the public!

Words & Worth: Artists' Talk + Readings


On Saturday, December 15th, starting at 6 p.m. in Fiona's Theatre, the NAGB will hold an Artists’ Talk and Readings titled "Words and Worth" with nine artists, writers and instigators from the NE9 "The Fruit and The Seed."

There will be words from Yasmin Glinton, Charlotte Henay and Xan Xi and insights on creative practices from April Bey, Jenna Chaplin, Danny Davis, Anina Major, Dave Smith and Tiffany Smith. The artists will focus on the role that language, sexuality and gender, histories, the environment and colonialism has had on the shaping of their perspectives, actions and values.

The event and all programmes in support of the NE9 are free and open to the public. The readings will take place from 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. followed by the talk and a Q&A session with all participating artists and attendees.
