Let's Learn to Love

Dear Readers,

I know its a bit cliche to say “New Year, New Me” but I'd like for our readers to think seriously about the power of those words. A new year represents an opportunity to start fresh, to reset, revamp, and redo the things in your life that perhaps didn't work out for you in the year before. Whether that be in your home, your health, your job/career, or your friend circles. I believe the new year is a chance to leave bad behaviors behind and adopt new ones. For one family, however, the New Year will forever be marred by tragedy.

Just 3 days into the new year and already it seems that we - and by WE I mean society - are taking our bad habits from 2018 into 2019. Our editorial team was disheartened to hear about the murder of a 19-year-old young man in Nassau whose death was then broadcast in graphic detail across social media.

This young man's death, and the way news and video of it spread, is proof positive that we, as a collective NEED to learn how to love. There's an obvious need for love of self and a recognition of the value of a life. There's also a need for the love of your fellow man. The question is how do we teach that? The answer is simple. We teach by SHOWING. I'm not so naive as to think we, as imperfect people won't ever react in anger or even that we SHOULD never act in anger, but I encourage all of our readers to temper feelings of anger with LOVE.

Again this may sound cliché, but it comes down to simple things. Like not sharing someone's dying moments with your social media buddies for the sake of likes and reactions. Like helping someone without expecting something in return. It comes down to valuing life so much that the thought of taking someone else's isn't even an option.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the young man along with a special prayer that WE as a collective do more to learn to love, to teach it, and to show it.

New Year New Makeup?
Hey BFF's

Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season and we're glad to be back to walk you through all those burning beauty questions and offer you the same great tips, tricks and trend reports from the world of makeup.

If you're like most of us, then the new year has you thinking about decluttering your life. Getting rid of the old and ushering in the new and that's great for all areas of your life, INCLUDING your makeup. Contrary to what people believe, makeup is perishable. It does NOT last forever and should be thrown out or replaced after a while. By now you're probably gasping in shock. How could I ask you to simply THROW AWAY all of the beautiful eyeshadows and lipsticks that you spent all this money on? Well think of it this way. Would you drink Milk that has gone bad? NO WAY! So why would you put expired makeup on? You shouldn't.
