And just as the Phoenix . . . .
Today, rehearsals begin for the 11th annual Shakespeare in Paradise Theatre Festival. The four major works this year are Measure for Measure, Old Story Time, Short Tales 2019 and Ain’t Misbehavin’. The festival will open on September 30th and run through October 12th. The Dundas remains open! Since the recent break-in and vandalism we have had rentals for three productions in the theatre, and starting today, approximately 70 actors, directors, backstage crew and volunteers will begin work on putting together some of the finest theatre that this country has to offer.
Last week was difficult for our theatre family, but this will not hold us back. As we continue to raise funds to fix and replace the material things that were lost, our spirit has not been broken—and the theatre community will grow even stronger from the acts of these lesser mortals.
We appreciate your encouragement and support and we look forward to more of the same as the performing arts community join with artists in other disciplines to help open the heart to new learning for many people, allowing them to gain control over strong feelings, and letting them transform emotions into new and creative energies. As the composer Stephen Sondheim said, “Art, in itself, is an attempt to bring order out of chaos.” |
