Summertime in the Bahamas is a time of celebration, music, traditional cuisine, and outdoor activities. In the city of Freeport, Grand Bahama, the month of July sees Bahamian Independence Day, great summertime weather, and cultural traditions combine into a grandiose month-long celebration known as the Goombay Festival, a celebration of the entire Bahamian culture.
Every Thursday in July, residents, and tourists flock to Taino Beach, Freeport’s community park, for a massive free block party that attracts close to 500 people at a time, where they enjoy traditional Bahamian food, music, culture and games. Read more >>
