GRAND BAHAMA HURRICANE UPDATE
Grand Bahama Re-Emerges Stronger & Better

Dear Readers,

It has officially been one month since Hurricane Dorian made landfall in The Bahamas and Grand Bahama has managed to resurface and float back to slight normality. Communities from West to East have been smiled upon by outpouring of donations from large companies to small independent non-profit organizations.

#242newsbahamas wants to make it our priority to keep you informed and up to date on everything happening in Grand Bahama. We are highlighting which businesses we know are open, and we are providing daily updates on our facebook pages with relevant news to recovery.

We will be working on preparing the same update for the islands of Abaco, so please email us back with any information you may have.

Utility Updates:

Grand Bahama Power Company

We are aware that some customers have remediated their homes and are still without meters. Our crews continue to work to safely return meters to customers as swiftly as possible.

GBPC crews continue to work in a number of areas to restore power to all remaining customers who have been cleared by GBPA.

GBPC appreciates your continued patience as we work safely and efficiently to address each issue/home one at a time which takes longer than usual.

If your meter has not been pulled and you are still without power, please report your isolated outage to our 24-hour hotline at 352-8411.

Grand Bahama Port Authority

We wish to encourage our customers to utilize the water services within their homes and businesses which will help to discard the salt water more quickly. Please note that water services are being provided free of charge until October 15th 2019.
