The staff and faculty of The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institution (BTVI) joined hands and contributed to Double Lunch Day, a Hands for Hunger initiative held on May 28th, World Hunger Day.

The thrust was to have people donate what they would normally spend on lunch to help feed fellow citizens who face hunger every day.  According to Hands for Hunger’s volunteer and Corporate Partnerships Coordinator, Tavette Darville, there are approximately 43,000 locals who have no access to meals on a daily basis.

She therefore thanked BTVI for “giving from the heart.”  BTVI’s Acting President, Dr. Iva Dahl (l) and Dean of Student Services, Racquel Bethel (r), are shown presenting a $500 cheque to Ms. Darville.
