Malta — Organized as a part of CHOGM, The Commonwealth Youth Forum was hosted on the 21st – 26th of November, 2015 in Saint Paul’s Bay, Malta. This high level meeting is typically hosted every two years. This year’s theme is “Adding Global Value…#What Next”.
As apart of the Commonwealth, The Bahamas was represented at the 10th Commonwealth Youth Forum by Executive Vice President of the Bahamas National Youth Council and National Delegate Ms. Tamar Moss, Candidate for the Caribbean and Americas Regional Representative, Mr. Shaquille Knowles and Entrepreneur and National Observer Mr. Andril Aranha.  Read more >>

GOING into the 12th annual Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) two weeks ago, founder and executive director Leslie Vanderpool emphasised the value of developing the festival while simultaneously improving the country’s local film industry, promising that this year’s selection of films would showcase the industry’s best in The Bahamas. 

Thousands support 'I Love Freeport' Fest

Vehicular traffic was diverted for most of the day in the heart of downtown, Freeport on Saturday, all for good reason.

The highly anticipated, ‘I Love Freeport’ event was the purpose for the diversion as a wholesome street party took place for residents and visitors of the island to enjoy. As the event commenced at noon, the intersection of Pioneer’s Way and the Mall Drive were closed prior to the start in preparation for the multitude of acts and performances that were on display, on the stage that was erected for the celebration.  Read more >> 

Students Go On A Field Trip To The Supermarket

STUDENTS from Queen’s College and Uriah McPhee Primary School have been learning about money, healthy living and community partnerships on field trips to Solomon’s Super Centre.

Last month, first graders from Queen’s College came armed with shopping lists to purchase items for a class picnic. While touring the store, students learned the value of money and were encouraged by teachers to choose healthy food options. After the storm ravaged the islands, the Corporation knew they had to do something to make the holidays full of cheer for children. Nassau, Bahamas – Kids from foster homes and schools glowed for Sandals Foundation volunteers this Christmas season when the team delivered their annual Christmas toys and treats.

Move than 300 toys and treats were distributed to the Centre for the Deaf, Gambier Primary School, Children’s Emergency Hostel, Elizabeth Estates Home, Ranfurly Home and the AIDS Foundation. Another 600 toys were donated to other charitable organizations, including a drive for the children in islands affected by hurricane Joaquin.  Read more >>

THE VALLEY Boys have been declared the unofficial champions of the 2016 New Year's Day Junkanoo Parade, edging second place finishers One Family by .61 points.

Flying through Bay Street early Friday morning under the theme "Birds of a Feather March Together”, the Valley Boys left spectators in awe of their performance.  Read more >>
