Government officials, private stakeholders and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) assembled off Magellan Street, near the former Arawak Hotel, to witness the groundbreaking, Thursday morning, for the state of the art Coral Vita Project, which is a collaborative endeavor between Coral Vita, The Grand Bahama Port Authority and the Grand Bahama Development Company (DEVCO).
Deputy Prime Minister K. Peter Turnquest; Minister of Agriculture Michael Pintard; executives of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Grand Bahama Development Company, LUSCO, Grand Bahama Utility Company, and Coral Vita; government officials within the Ministry of Tourism and the Grand Bahama Investment Unit; representatives of Bahamas National Trust; Keep Grand Bahama Clean Committee, Save The Bays, University of The Bahamas; and tour operators among others were all present for the groundbreaking ceremony of the unique coral farm, the first of its kind presently in existence, worldwide.
