Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Coral Farm

GROUND BROKEN —Ground was officially broken for the new Coral Vita Facilities that will house the world first land based Commercial Coral Farm Education and Research Center on Thursday November 29th. Government officials, private stakeholders and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) assembled off Magellan Street, near the former Arawak Hotel, to witness the groundbreaking, Thursday morning, for the state of the art Coral Vita Project, which is a collaborative endeavor between Coral Vita, The Grand Bahama Port Authority and the Grand Bahama Development Company (DEVCO).

Deputy Prime Minister K. Peter Turnquest; Minister of Agriculture Michael Pintard; executives of the Grand Bahama Port Authority, Grand Bahama Development Company, LUSCO, Grand Bahama Utility Company, and Coral Vita; government officials within the Ministry of Tourism and the Grand Bahama Investment Unit; representatives of Bahamas National Trust; Keep Grand Bahama Clean Committee, Save The Bays, University of The Bahamas; and tour operators among others were all present for the groundbreaking ceremony of the unique coral farm, the first of its kind presently in existence, worldwide.  Read more >>
