The HATE is VENOMOUS! Dear Readers,
The post is an exerpt from his speech at IACHR (The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights) in Kingston Jamaica on May 10, 2019 by him and his organization, Rights Bahamas, discussing the treatment of migrants in The Bahamas. There have been numerous accounts about the Rights Bahamas trip to these meetings and lots of hostility about what they said, especially what people perceived as demeaning about The Bahamas.

SBDC assists “Shiver” in accessing over 150,000 dollars in capital. |
The Access Accelerator Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) has assisted another small business with accessing capital. Shiver, a local sorbet and ice-cream brand, received access to $100,000 in loans from Royal Bank Bahamas (RBC), $50,000 in equity investments from Bahamas Entrepreneurial Venture Fund and $11,600 in grant funding from the Government of The Bahamas.
Founders and CEOs of the company, Melissa Darville and Elvis Percentie, described the news as exciting and another reason to be grateful.
“We are excited”, said Percentie. "I was driving when Melissa called to tell me that they announced we had received the funding. I had to pull to the side of the road and check my phone just to see it for myself. I'm a numbers guy, so I've already started calculating where this and that would go, but it's exciting, and we're grateful.”

| Rights Bahamas backs independent investigation into police shootings |
Rights Bahamas supports the call from leader of the opposition Philip Davis for an outside agency to investigate the recent police shootings of three men in eastern New Providence.
We have long said that the police cannot police themselves and in the face of claims that, contrary to the official version of events, the men were unarmed and therefore killed in cold blood, an independent and objective probe is absolutely necessary.
We suggest that a reputable overseas private investigation company be engaged by the government to look into this and all other cases like it. The company should be tasked with producing a detailed report of the incident after conducting witness interviews, interviews with the officers, an examination of the physical evidence, including the weapons purported to have been fired by the deceased men, ballistics tests and whatever other forms of forensic studies are necessary to get to the truth.

Royal Caribbean partners with Bahamas Feeding Network, pledges food for entire year 2019 On a sunny afternoon in November, Royal Caribbean International President & CEO Michael Bayley stood in the AquaTheater of Symphony of The Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world as it made its inaugural visit to Nassau, and before an audience of hundreds including volunteers from one of the destination’s most challenged communities made a promise – to fund all the food needed by the Bahamas Feeding Network in 2019.
The applause that erupted was louder than a ship’s horn and all the music the bands and Junkanoo groups had made during the celebration. There were tears on the faces of those touched by the compassion and the promise. This week, the Bahamas Feeding Network sent a message back to Bayley and to Royal Caribbean. |
