Headlining the concert set for 4 pm on the waterfront at Flying Fish Seafood Restaurant is the top-selling musician Kirkland ‘KB’ Bodie.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – FEBRUARY 27TH, 2015 - The Bahamas Tourist Office in conjunction with the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board, recently hosted successful Travel Agent Seminars in the northern U.S. cities of Newark and Philadelphia,  where in spite of record chilly temperatures plaguing America’s eastern seaboard, travel agents packed the room at both venues.  Winter weary agents were told  about the sun, fun, adventure and excitement of The Islands Of The Bahamas and Grand Bahama Island in particular.  Also about the ease, convenience, and affordability of traveling to the tropical destination.

The seminars were mostly a joint effort to shed awareness of the Vacation Express Grand Bahama 2015 Summer Program which offers direct and non-stop, round trip air, (using Sunwng’s 737 - 800 series aircraft with 189 seats), 4 night accommodations, airport transfers and in some cases all-inclusive packages (including meals and drinks).

In addition to information on the Vacation Express Program, Grand Bahama Sales Executive, Sanique Culmer, provided detailed information for the  agents  on the many other means of escaping the cold weather and  traveling to Grand Bahama,  including connecting flights, cruises, and fast ferries.  Wendall Saunders shared information on the myriads of exciting and adventurous activities on the Island, including, swimming in the ocean with dolphins, horseback riding through shallow waters, exploring caves and discovering some of the world's most beautiful beaches.

This is the second year that Vacation Express is offering a Grand Bahama Summer Program to 8 cities across the U.S. The Program, which begins in May in New Jersey and August in Philadelphia, ends in both cities in October.  Other cities that are a part of the 2015 program include, Cincinnati, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Houston and Nashville.

"The impressive turnout of agents in both Newark and Philadelphia, is indicative of the fact that people are looking for ways to escape the cold weather in the North,  and we are happy that we were able to present timely information to our agents to help them assist their clients, who are looking for a winter getaway," said Mrs Valery Brown-Alce, Senior Director, Global Sales for The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

A Bahamas Ministry of Tourism team and partners will be continuing the series of Travel Agent Seminar-Trade Shows and PR Missions, across the U.S over the next few weeks.  At the dinner events in each of the cities, travel agents are given information on Grand Bahama and The Bahamas, and  the opportunity to communicate one-on-one with Bahamas representatives, hoteliers and tour operator partners.  Agents are also entered at the event to win prizes including a grand prize trip to Grand Bahama.  Simultaneous with the Travel Agent events, a Bahamas Tourism PR team is meeting with media outlets in the area (newspapers, magazines, radio and television) in an effort to get the word out to the consumers.

OFF THE GROUND – Beach Aviation’s Bahamas Aviation Academy has teamed up with The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) to launch a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private Pilot Flight Training course. Shown from left to right with BTVI’s Manager and Consultant, Dr. Iva Dahl are Beach Aviation partners Captain Charles Brady, Dr. James R. Eddy and Dr. Kenneth Romer.

Beach Aviation's Bahamas Aviation Academy and the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) are proud to announce the historic launch of the only comprehensive Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Private Pilot Flight Training course offering in The Bahamas.

BTVI, in fulfillment of its mission, "To provide opportunities that enable individuals to be globally competitive and economically independent," recognized the benefit of partnering with Beach Aviation to train the next generation of private and commercial pilots in The Bahamas. The historic partnership will provide students the opportunity to be trained in a myriad of FAA approved courses while remaining in Nassau.

Following the theory, students will focus on the flight aspect of the program. While the theory and tests will take place at BTVI, the practical will be held at Beach Aviation in Florida with a required minimum flight time of 40 hours.

FAA Private Pilot Theory is the initial 15-week course, scheduled to begin on April 27th. Its subject matter will include, but is not limited to Air Law, Astronomy and Navigation to Physics, Meteorology, Geography, Technical English and Mathematics.

One of Beach Aviation’s partners, Dr. Kenneth Romer, said the academy will prove to be an asset to The Bahamas as it establishes itself as a regional leader by having a full-motion Redbird simulator available to students for logging flight time.

“The partnership between Beach Aviation and BTVI ensures an opportunity for Bahamians and members of the Caribbean community to train for a career in a high demand and high paying field in The Bahamas. The students will also benefit by learning from professional pilots and current jet captains who share real-world knowledge and experiences with them,” said Dr. Romer.

Beach Aviation’s four senior captains, who are professional pilots and international jet captains, alone have 75,000 hours of flight and instruction. The company’s partners include Bahamians Captain Fredrick McPhee and Dr. Romer along with Captain Charles Brady and Floridian House of Representative and retired judge, the Honourable Dr. James R. Eddy.

Meanwhile, BTVI’s Manager and Consultant, Dr. Iva Dahl expressed how pleased the institution is to partner with Beach Aviation to make The Bahamas Aviation Academy a success.

“The agreement certainly allows for locals to pursue a career in the aviation industry with the theoretical phase being done right at home. It’s a viable solution for people to discover their path to becoming private and commercial pilots, and BTVI is proud to play a role in making those dreams a reality,” said Dr. Dahl.

For the fall 2015 semester, The Bahamas Aviation Academy proposes to offer the Private Pilot Theory along with the FAA Instrument Pilot Theory. In the spring 2016 semester, those two courses would be offered for a second time, in addition to the FAA Commercial Pilot and Flight Crew Theory.

“The premise is that the students will begin to naturally progress,” explained Dr. Romer.

Upon satisfactorily completing the course, students will receive an endorsement from an authorized instructor to take the FAA Private Pilot Airplane Knowledge Test. Additionally, they would have achieved a Student Pilot Certificate and be a Flight Cadet with Beach Aviation.

Beach Aviation, headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, was formed in 2010. It has additional locations in West Palm Beach at Palm Beach International Airport; Tampa, Florida at St. Petersburg International Airport and in Montpellier, France.

As part of an extended global campus, the Beach Aviation Bahamas campus seeks to attract students from throughout The Bahamas, the Caribbean, the United States of America, Latin America, France and Italy.

The Amazing Love Story

“If music be the food of love play on” – William Shakespeare

Freeport, Grand Gahama - End to End Band, Grand Bahama’s newest and hottest bands, understanding the power of music and love, launched an exciting 6 week promotional campaign The Amazing Love Story – A Celebration of Love.

The Amazing Love Story a social media based contest, got the involvement of the Grand Bahama community who nominated engaged couples who would wed in 2015 for a chance win FREE LIVE wedding entertainment saving them significantly.

The public voted for their favorite Amazing Love Story and on Valentine’s Day End to End Band was pleased to announce the winners Mr. Dominick Nixon cameraman at the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas and Miss Ashley Penn Public Relations Officer at the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

It is stated that love conquers all; this has been reflected in the Amazing Stories submitted of challenges, disappointments and a determination to win against all odds.

The Winning Amazing Love Story:
End To End I truly feel Ashley MzislandStar Sache't and Dominick D'Swagger Nixon should win 'The Amazing Love Story' Contest because...

To me they epitomize from 'end to end' the meaning of love 'tried and true'.
Individually, both Ashley and Dominick have had to contend with many challenges and by God's grace, each have conquered every one however, not without scars.
Now for most of us, scars would not only be a bitter reminder of our past, which we try to hide but also the very thing that would separate us from our foundational upbringing.
It would leave us fearful of the future, cause us to give up on love and settle for the mediocre.
However, unlike most of us, Ash and Dom have utilized their scars in an uncommon way letting them lead to an unwavering trust in God, who used those scars and their faith in love to pave a road to each other.
Dom possesses that 'old school' chivalrous nature, which in spite of his 'young buck' swag causes him to love and honor Ash, who possesses a unique grace that causes her to already love and care for him like a Proverbs 31:10-31 Woman should, from 'end to end'.
They are from completely different worlds united by love, uninhibited by scars, who together are an inspiration and are a couple, who in my humble opinion deserves End to End to sing at their wedding (March 28th, 2015) just to witness firsthand a bit of what I have attested to.

Like Lyford Cay in Nassau, Harbour Island is a Bahamian destination that attracts a particularly stylish crowd (India Hicks calls it home; Alessandra Branca has a house here). While it's not an enclosed private club, the island is so tiny (it's only half a mile wide and 3.5 miles long) and off the beaten path (chartered planes and boats are necessary), it might as well be. Here, we outline why you should plan a trip to Harbour Island and what should be on your itinerary.
