Fly In to Grand Bahama being promoted on front page of Sun n Fun website

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (February 28, 2013)  –Top executives  at Sun ‘n Fun, Lakeland, Florida, are advertising and promoting a Fly-Out to Grand Bahama and Marsh Harbour, Bahamas, May 23-27, 2013 on the landing page of the  Sun ‘n Fun website.

Sun ‘n Fun’s President, John “Lites” Leenhouts, was a part of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s Aviation Department’s annual FBO Fam to The Bahamas in 2012.  The Sun ‘n Fun official stated that “The simplicity of getting in and out, and the beauty and enjoyment of travelling to The Bahamas,  makes it an attractive destination for any pilot.”

Other Sun ‘n Fun officials on the Bahamas Fam included, Chairman, Robert ‘Bob’ Knight and Exhibits Manager, Bonnie Perkins.  President Leenhouts said that because of what he was able to experience, during his trip last year, he and his executive team decided to invite the organization’s supporters to 5 days/4 nights Fly-Out.

On their website Sun ‘n Fun are inviting general aviation pilots to join them in an “AIR-rally Sun ‘n Fun style,” and allow The Bahamas to show off their Islands from a new vantage point.”   Sun N Fun officials anticipate that the group for the Fly-Out will be between 30 and 35 persons and 10-15 planes.

Sun 'n Fun is scheduled to take place this year April 9-14th, 2013 and  is a "Fly-in" and air show held annually at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Florida.  The event usually takes place during the second or third week of April. The popular air show was founded in 1974 and was first organized by the local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

The second largest aviation show in the U.S. and the largest in Florida, Sun n Fun participants include owners who fly their aircraft to the event from all parts of the United States and Canada. Many pilots fly their own vintage, homebuilt aircraft or restored ex-military aircraft.

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation, have been taking part in the Annual Sun ‘n Fun Aviation event for more than 10 years. The event provides the opportunity to share Bahamas information with the some 200,600 in attendance.  Show goers also have the opportunity to speak  with Bahamas representatives including hoteliers,  Bahamas FBO officials as well as Bahamas Preferred  Florida based FBO executives. Information is available on  all aspects relating to  the beauty of the 700 Islands and the ease of Flying to and around the country.

The Bahamas is the nearest international destination to the South Florida Coast – only 55 miles away at its nearest point – and information on the tropical Island destination is always well received by both the general aviation pilots and aviation enthusiasts who attend the Show.

In addition to the Sun ‘n Fun aviation show, The Bahamas also participates in the largest national aviation show, EAA AirVenture, Osh Kosh, WI.  The Bahamas’ own Chief Aviation Specialist, Greg Rolle is currently the Chairman of the International Federal Partnership.  The IFP exhibit as a group annually  at EAA and Rolle  completes his term in that post at the end of this year’s EAA event.

Other Bahamas initiatives against the general aviation market include their Preferred Gateway FBO program and Bahamas Flying Ambassadors (pilots with extensive experience in flying the Islands of The Bahamas).

"A Wedding in Nassau"

The play is about an Indian heiress that grew up in The Bahamas after her family migrated here in the 1930’s. Because she grew up here, she adopted many if not all of our Bahamian culture. However with her parents being of Indian descent they were furious when they learned of her decision to marry outside of her culture.

Her decision to marry a famous well-known lawyer and upcoming Politian evokes so much passion and hostility in her family that she is given an ultimatum. Either she will marry the man  that they had pre-arranged for her who is of Indian descent or she will have no choice but to be disowned and disinherited from the family fortune.

Of course, in this love tale, love has no bounds and conquers all. She decides to move forward with her decision to marry the Bahamian politician. However, like every human-being he has a lot of skeletons in his closet and she is not prepared or aware of what is to come. Being blinded and naive by the enchanted persona that he puts on she cannot see the indiscretions that he possess right before her eyes. Her hind sight is 20/20 as the vision of love surrounds and haze her judgement.

The members of Youngblood Hawke are fearless. Don’t believe us? Just watch their latest video.

The clip for “We Come Running,” off the band’s self-titled EP, mimics the song’s can-do attitude by forcing the band to face one of their biggest fears: sharks.

Before jumping into the ocean with the animals all five members of Youngblood Hawke–Sam Martin, Simon Katz, Nik Hughes, Tasso Smith and Alice Katz—had to train in a much smaller body of water.

Beauty Of The Body: The Art Of Nicole Collie

By JEFFARAH GIBSON
Tribune Features Writer

VETERAN artists Nicole Collie makes no apology for her nude art. Her latest collection of paintings, featuring the naked female form, makes it hard to believe it once made her uncomfortable. She was once fearful that her work would be misinterpreted as sinful and explicit. As a result she kept her more exposed paintings hidden in her studio.

“For many years I did not share my paintings with anyone because I knew what the reaction was going to be. People believed that nude paintings were sinful. I have not always been able to talk so freely about my work because I was still trying to understand why I do what I do. I have had so many people in my past question what I do. Ask me to change what I paint and to go so far as calling it porn,” said Nicole.

In her latest renderings, nude female figures resurface as the dominant feature. The paintings will be mounted in an upcoming solo exhibition in College Park Georgia, Nicole’s current residence, on March 22.

Nicole says the paintings of the unclothed female body are not intended to evoke sexual arousal, and are to be appreciated as aesthetic objects.

Dynamite Daisy's Lynn Terez Davis Wins First International Music Award

Lynn Terez Davis, known in The Bahamas as her comedic character Dynamite Daisy, has solidified her gospel music career with a win at the South Florida Gospel Music Awards. Davis was among a slew of KLR Management Group clients who were nominated, and the only Bahamian to win.

By Arthia Nixon, The Ambassador Agency for KLR Management Group

(Miami, Florida)… It’s been a dynamite year for the woman who has won the heart of the nation with her alter ego, Dynamite Daisy. Now, Lynn Terez Davis is basking in the joy of being the only Bahamian to win an award at the 2013 South Florida Gospel Music Awards (SFGMA).

“How amazing is it that her album hasn’t been out for a year yet and she is the now Best Gospel Praise& Worship Artist 2013 winner at the South Florida Gospel Music Awards?” beamed KLR Management Group CEO Keith Rolle. “I am extremely proud of Terez and all the other Bahamians represented by KLR who were nominated in such tightly contested categories.”

The KLR Management Group submitted several Bahamian gospel talents they represent to the SFGMA. Davis was nominated in the Best Gospel Praise & Worship Artist along with fellow countrymen Denero Williams and Demetrius Stubbs. She was also nominated for Best Female Gospel Artist and Best Gospel New Artist of the Year. Davis’ song Beautiful was also Best Gospel Song of the Year 2013.

In the Best Male Gospel Artist category was Preston Wallace, Denero Williams and Demetrius Stubbs. Rolle himself was made this year’s list of nominees as Best Gospel Radio/TV Announcer of the Year 2013 for his show Inspiration with Keith which airs on Island 102.9 FM.

Meanwhile, Lynn Terez Davis revealed that while the comedic character she created for the stage has not been accepting as many offers as she used to, she has been busy establishing herself as a recording artist with the release of her debut album. A mere six months after releasing Beautiful, Davis found herself climbing the charts locally and securing her first win at a gospel music awards program, thanks to a distribution deal she signed with the KLR Management Group.

“From summer 2012 to winter 2013, I haven’t had a minute to catch myself,” she beamed. “I went from the studio to the album, then releasing that. Within a matter of days it seemed, I went from finishing my album to promoting it, getting engaged and then planning a tour and a wedding at the same time. So it’s all just a blessing and a confirmation that the season is right to sing. People who attended the Dynamite Daisy plays would enjoy the singing I did at the end of it and kept asking when I was going to do an album. Now it is an honor to have done an album and to have it recognized.”

The new Saturday sailing day will give customers an additional option for the transport of their goods, including groceries, retail merchandise, building materials, refrigerated (reefer) products, and vehicles from Port Everglades to Nassau each week. The Monday vessel arrival in Nassau also aligns well with the logistical needs of the local market.

To Nassau, Crowley offers full container load (FCL) service as well as less than container load (LCL) service.   For customers shipping to the United States from Nassau, Crowley offers a northbound service to Jacksonville and Port Everglades weekly, departing on Mondays and Wednesdays.
